American Idol kept temperatures rising tonight as the top 3 finalists performed songs picked by the judges, the producers and themselves.
David Cook, Syesha Mercado and David Archuleta each sang songs selected by the judges in the first round. David Archuleta sang And So It Goes, a song first popularized by Billy Joel and handpicked for him by Paula Abdul. Randy Jackson chose the song If I Ain't Got You by Alicia Keys for Syesha Mercado, while Simon Cowell selected The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face for rocker David Cook.
In the second round, it was the contestants who chose the songs they performed for their audience. The songs chosen were from a various genres; Chris Brown's With You was sung by David Archuleta, Peggy Lee's Fever was reprised by Syesha Mercado and Switchfoot's Dare You To Move was performed by David Cook.
The remaining three finalists sang songs the producers picked for the contestants in the final round. Dan Fogelberg's Longer was given new life by David Archuleta.
