It's Harry Potter's sixth year at Hogwarts, and his dream of becoming an Auror is closer to realization ever than before as Hogwarts recruits a new teacher. While everybody thought the new teacher, Horace Slughorn, would be teaching Defense Against the Dark Arts, they soon discover that the subject is now being handled by Severus Snape. Slughorn, meanwhile discovers Harry's uncanny talent at potions, thanks to a book that used to belong to a mysterious Half-Blood Prince. Along with his newfound favorite subject, he learns a couple of helpful and dangerous spells.

Hogwarts' headmaster Albus Dumbledore resumes private lessons with Harry who uses the sessions to uncover Voldemort's past, hoping to use this to defeat the Dark Lord.
