There's Windows and Mac OS. Then there's Ubuntu.
For those of you who don't know, Ubuntu is a free operating system based on Debian GNU/Linux. Ubuntu is a Zulu word loosely translated as "humanity." This describes the Ubuntu philosophy: "I am who I am because of those around me," a positive aspect of community.
Ubuntu boasts of the following:
- A clean and simple desktop (no icons, and with a theme that's pleasing to the eye),
- A usable operating system (with applications for working with documents, spreadsheets, presentations, browing the web, etc),
- A vast library of free software (following the Debian Free Software guidelines),
- Localization in the native language, and
- Power and performance with minimum system requirements.
